Frequently Asked Questions
Some of these are practical. Others are the ones people feel a little silly asking, and those are usually worth answering too.
Practical Details

My office is located on the Boise Greenbelt. The address is:
3350 W Americana Terrace, Suite 210B
Boise, Idaho 83706
Please enter the building from the side instead of the front. Suite 210B is to your left, past the Women’s and Men’s restrooms.
Yes, I’m contracted with several insurance plans. They are listed below:
Pacific Source, Blue Cross of Idaho, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mountain Health Co-op, Select Health, St. Luke’s Health Partners, Moda, and Aetna.
You can contact me through my website, activepursuittherapy.com, or call or text me at (208) 768-1454.
Sessions are usually weekly.
After some progress in treatment, you and I will come to an agreement on when the frequency changes, from weekly to bi-weekly, then every three weeks, and so on.
The short answer is typically no. I may be someone’s individual therapist and also see them and their partner once or infrequently.
However, I do not see it as helpful to be both the individual’s therapist and the couples therapist, and it can be problematic. I suggest we discuss your particular details and what your concerns are on a consultation call.
I do not. I usually refer clients to discuss this with their primary medical provider.
How We’ll Work Together

You won’t be graded on it, and it will be up to you.
Usually, as it fits with what we’ve worked on in the session, I will either ask what is standing out to you to work on or suggest a particular action to practice in the coming week.
Usually not a problem. Just as you’re welcome to share what you want or withhold what you want, I may opt out of answering if it’s too personal.
My office has a comfortable reclining loveseat. Two large windows overlook the Boise Greenbelt and the Boise River.
In the waiting area, you can find options like water, coffee, or tea. You’re more than welcome to bring something to drink into your session.
I also have a weighted blanket and a soft pillow if you need either one for self-soothing.
Yes, yes I do.
I take what I do seriously because I know I’m dealing with a real person whose life has real consequences. I value my clients.
Comfort and Candor

Sure! It won’t bother me at all. My hope is that you’re as relaxed as you can be.
Of course! I have several different fidgets for your fidgeting pleasure.
Yep, there are at least two bike racks at the building.
One is upstairs at the front of the building. The other is downstairs in the covered parking area.
I encourage you to! Affection is important, and I’m completely comfortable with it.
You get more points the more tissues you use. I’m not counting, and I encourage you not to. That’s what they’re there for.
I wish I could, but no.
There are many wonderful people I’ve worked with, and unfortunately, being friends with them would work negatively against the professional relationship we have.
A friendship would be unethical, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t cross my mind.
How’d you know?
I do like to be comfortable, so I usually have my shoes off, comfortable pants on, and a blanket on my lap. I have a dressy blouse on so I appear dressed up, although I’m only halfway dressed up.
I’m not offended by your language. You have permission to cuss and express yourself how you normally do.
It could add some fun to the session, for sure. I feel it’s best for you to be completely who you are.
Take the Next Step
Chances are you’ve been waiting a while to make this move.
The consultation is free, 15 minutes, by phone or video. We’ll get clear on what you want for this incredible life of yours and what it would take to have it, and you’ll come off that call with a straight answer about whether I’m the right person for the job.
